New things...which will soon be old things.

So time got the best of me again, and this 'hobby' blog got neglected/forgotten about. But these hands haven't been idle ones, so here is a brief recap of some things I've been working on. Needless to say, there are many more things I've done, but seriously, how many scarves and hats, does one person care to look at. So here goes...starting with the lovely Brenda...actually, its just my 'mistake' ribbed hat, made with a soy/wool blend wool, that feels really great.

These aren't in the order I made them, so don't stress about it, there's no quiz later.

But next is an owl pillow I decided to make, because I was tired of my other pillows and wanted to reuse the filling on another pillow, and I had these two fabrics that went so well together.

The fabric, prior to being hacked into a pillow.

The owl pillow, chilling with an old painting of mine.

Well, the blog system, doesn't seem to be cooperating right now, so I'll try to add the rest of the pictures in the morning...hopefully I will remember to, or it will be a few more weeks, maybe months before I get semi-updated.

Oh well

Betsy and I

Oil Pastel and acrylic of Betsy and I with funny faces.

Betsy in Acrylic.

New Artwork

My abstraction of the bottom of a toilet :).

Brown flowers, turned out completely different from what I was going for, but I like them nonetheless.

Something I made, that turned out ugly, so I changed it, it turned uglier, and tried to fix it, and here it is in all of its ugly glory!

Kind of grid looking thing, the silver circles didn't really translate well with the camera, but they are there all around, lol.

A little plant I have in my room.

Some old school geometric flowers/stars, my Grandpa used to love, revamped a little..

Knitty Gritty.

I've also been knitting some more...here they are.

Round Coaster

Hexagonal Coaster

Rainbow wrist band...which I'll never wear but I dyed my own yarn with kool-aid, and needed something to do with the colors :)

Some images from my personal sketchbook.

I'm not much of a writer, so instead I keep a journal of drawings, so here are some of the drawings/sketches from my most recent journal.

Some crazy flowers.

My homage to dental hygiene

A colorful pattern of some sort.

Some more people.

So this first image is of course a copy I painted, of the famous photograph of Marilyn Monroe. I used gouache, and some watercolor pencils. Its not great, but its not too bad either I suppose, lol.

The second is another simple line drawing I did of Betsy, I think it looks kind of like her, lol :)

New face.

This is a line drawing of my face I did, then painted one side silver (with like 10 coats) and left the other side unpainted (its on MDF, I love the surface) and then the line is red. I think its pretty cool. Its actually a square, but the scanner couldn't fit the entire width on there, bless its heart.

Here I am again.

So here are some new things...sorry it took so long Bleu. This one is some acrylic, with gouache, pastel, and wax pencil. Yep.

My Jeans.

I've been working on these jeans for a while now. I did some work on them, I guess in college. They're jeans I've had since high school, and would never wear, so I decided to embroider them. I just started really working on them again since I moved to Nashville. Here is what I've done so far...in pieces. Oh yeah, the inside is pretty nicely lined over the back of the emboidary, and I'm almost as proud of the inside as out, but to spare you the boredom, I left out pictures of the inside...you'll just have to hope you're lucky enough to see the inside some day ;), lol.

Studded name.

Paisley #1

Paisley #2

Skull, "J," and Laurel Wreath

Girl with arms behind head.

Paisley #3, Star, and Health thingy.

My own book.

For christmas I made Charlie (my brother) a book of drawings and cool pictures that I put together and bound. I like it enough to do it again for myself. This is the pending cover, and two pages from the book. (So far I have 72 pages.)

Cover

Page inspired by wallpaper in Dolce and Gabana's home in Italy.

Rolled paper page.

Back to charcoal.

I decided to do some charcoal because I saw a pretty cool pic online that inspired me to. The line through the middle of the drawing is because I had to splice two scans together, since the picture was too big to fit on the scanner at once. I used vine charcoal, white conte, 4B pencil, and India Ink.

New moves.

I've been trying out new things with knitting, and here is one of the samples that I did. I also made a cap, but all I have is the scanner so the picture of it didn't look like much.

Memory pages.

Ever since I started this page, I can't make anything!!! So I'm looking back through some old stuff for inspiration and I'll share them here with you, aren't I sweet :)

Fresh from the dryer

This is my chain scarf I made from wool, and then shrank the wool with hot water. It was pretty tedious, but I think it was worth it, its pretty cute. I don't know if its me though, so I may be looking to give it away later...but I'm not sure on that yet, it may grow on me.

Learning something new.

Over the christmas break, for something to do, my mom taught me to knit. So here is the first scarf I made, and the first anything I made with cables, it was fun but took forever, lol!

Gardens

The next two things are made completely of paper, yarn, and embroidary floss. I sewed all of the paper into the shapes I wanted and then sewed them onto a background piece of paper. They are both kind of made up floral arrangements which I liked so much I named them after my two favorite girls, Betsy and Anna.

Betsy's Garden

Anna's Garden

The pictures are actually a little bigger than this, the "foliage" extends off of the pages, but all I don't have a digital camera, only a scanner, and this is all that would fit on the scanner, but I think you still get the overall gist of them.

Taking a few steps back.

In the future, I'll post things as I make them, but to get things started I'm going to put up a couple of things that I have already finished.

The first of which is my Post-It painting. This one began as a sketch on an actual post-it note, that I translated into a painting that is 12"x12" painted on an MDF board that I got from my dad. I think it's really great stuff to paint on because it recieves the paint so nicely, and ends up with a nice finish. The first layer is a basic acrylic paint, and the gray tone is an ink wash over top, finished with some black acrylic for the finer lines.

Post-It

Starting Out

So I've decided to create a blog to post things that I create for everyone to see, and comment on if they feel so inclined. I guess its also a way for me to talk about what I do to someone (the internet, I suppose) without having to bore my friends by yapping their ears off about it. If they care, they can just come to my page and see whats up. So thats all there is for an intro for now, Hopefully this is going to be an awesome blog with tons of great stuff to look at!
